Ubud centre
Kupu-Kupu Ubud has a school and workshop area where disabled people can meet, socialise and obtain support. Many disabled people have some skills but are disadvantaged because of lack of mobility and being far away from many of the facilities on the island. The center provides a meeting place and space for our programmes.
Activities include a school which teaches basic numeracy and literacy skills to younger students. There is also a physiotherapy room at the centre and facilities for groups to stay overnight for special events and activities.
Swimming, trips to the beach and to wildlife parks have proved popular outings and learning experiences for students and their families. We have also partnered with Bali International school and regularly facilitate learning and friendship-building activities between the schools' students. Arts, crafts and music activities followed by light refreshments are enjoyed together. This is an especially valuable experience for students to learn about the lives of others and to share some happy times.
There are four staff members whom have either have a disability or have a disabled person in their family. Our staff live and work on a salaried position at the centre providing care for the school students, teaching activities, cooking and maintaining the grounds. You are most welcome to visit our centre!
We also have a gallery shop nearby on Jalan Raya Ubud where examples of art and crafts are on display - we will be deligted to see you there!
