He has two brothers with similar handicaps.

Welcome

Kupu-Kupu is the Indonesian word for butterfly.  We have chosen it as our name because it symbolizes the beautiful people whom we serve and who, with a little love, can escape their cocoons and fly away as butterflies.

Bali is an island of 2.5 million people who subsist on work in the tourist industry and traditional rice farming.  The majority of the island's people are very poor and there is almost no support for the handicapped.  It is not unusual to see a severely handicapped person dragging themselves on the ground with what little abilities they may have.  This life is particularly harsh for children who are sometimes cast out from their families who cannot deal with the problems of a handicapped child.

Kupu-Kupu Foundation is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) whose aim it is to improve the lives of physically and mentally disabled children, adolescents and adults on the island of Bali.  We are totally privately funded and are always desperately in need of funds to keep our operations going.  Please read about our work and help us in any way you can.  Even a little can make a big difference!

"Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity.  It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life."
